What is the South Florida Education Center?

The South Florida Education Center (SFEC) is comprised of five major educational institutions; Broward College, Florida Atlantic University, McFatter Technical College & Technical High School, Nova Southeastern University, and the University of Florida, all located on one square mile campus in the Town of Davie.

By coming together, the SFEC can offer students of all ages, income levels, and culturally diverse backgrounds a vast spectrum of educational possibilities including college prep, K-12 education, technical certificates, industry certifications and non-credit programs. The South Florida Education Center also provides students with access to an extensive array of associates, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and professional degree programs offered through some of Florida’s top leading schools.

SFEC and the Transportation Management Association

Recognizing that the campuses generate a lot of traffic in Broward County, the members formed the South Florida Education Center Transportation Management Association (SFEC TMA), in an effort to help manage and reduce congestion.

The SFEC TMA is a private, nonprofit organization representing a partnership of the SFEC educational institutions, the Town of Davie, and the Florida Department of Transportation. Our mission is to develop strategies and implement programs that provide alternative transportation options for improved mobility in South Florida.

Together we work on everything from free transportation options for students and faculty to the campus, articulation agreements, parking, marketing and promotion.

Other SFEC Partners

By partnering with the Town of Davie, South Florida Commuter Services, Tri-Rail, the Florida Department of Transportation, and Broward County Transit (BCT), we make it easy for over 6,500 people to take advantage of the free shuttle transportation offered from the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport Station at Dania Beach located on Griffin Road to the SFEC campus. In addition, we are able to provide discount Tri-Rail and BCT passes as well as alternative transportation solutions to faculty, staff and students.

Building a Brighter Future

The South Florida Education Center makes it easier and more convenient for tens of thousands of students to take advantage of all the educational opportunities located in one square mile. These opportunities help students accomplish their academic goals and go on to take an active and productive role in building a better tomorrow, both for themselves and for the community.
