Broward College, Davie, Florida

Broward College, which offers the most affordable higher education programs in South Florida, has graduated more than 120,000 students since opening its doors in 1960. The school firmly stands by its mission: to provide students with a high-quality education that is affordable and accessible to all. The college offers associate and baccalaureate degrees as well as technical/vocational certificates and applied technical diplomas.

Students with a busy work/life schedule who are looking for a college offering maximum flexibility will find Broward College the perfect choice.

 

Broward College Education Programs

Broward College’s A. Hugh Adams Central Campus, conveniently located on the South Florida Education Center (SFEC) campus, 10 minutes from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, offers students hundreds of career, technical, and degree programs from which to choose.

The Davie campus provides students with educational opportunities to help them pursue careers in fields such as healthcare, law enforcement, teaching and business. In addition, Broward College offers professionals a wide variety of continuing education programs.

Florida Atlantic University Campus, Davie, Florida

Nearly 5,500 students take classes at Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) second-largest campus (after the Boca Raton campus). Conveniently co-located with Broward College (BC), students wishing to pursue accredited degrees from FAU will find they have a variety of undergraduate degrees and certificates, combined degrees, master’s degrees, graduate certificates and doctoral degrees to choose from.

 

FAU Education Programs

The Florida Atlantic University Davie campus, conveniently located on the South Florida Education Center (SFEC) campus, 10 minutes from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, offers students 30 degree programs through the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, the College of Business, College for Design and Social Inquiry, College of Education, the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, and the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science.

FAU is located on Broward College's Central Campus. Students may enter Broward College as freshmen and graduate from FAU with an undergraduate degree. The campus features more than 315,000 square feet of carefully designed classrooms and laboratories. Faculty, staff and student offices are located on this campus along with a shared-use, 112,000 square-foot FAU/BC library designed for the 21st century.

South Florida Education Center is also home to Florida Atlantic University’s Wellness Center, a multi-service Student Union, and the innovative Teaching and Leadership Center, which a joint collaborative initiative of FAU, Broward College and the School Board of Broward County.

In addition, the Center for Environmental Studies (CES) moved to the Davie Campus as of fall 2014. CES was established in 1994 as a research center to facilitate and coordinate environmental research and education in the water dominated ecosystems of Florida.

McFatter Technical High School, Davie, Florida

McFatter Technical High School offers an integrated curriculum, state-of-the-art technology, project based learning, alternative assessment, digitized portfolios, technical exhibition, college-type block scheduling, industry involvement and distance learning. As part of the Broward County Public School District, the school serves approximately 600 students in grades 9-12 and has received an “A” rating the Florida Department of Education.


McFatter Technical High School Education Programs

As a whole school magnet McFatter is committed to providing an education for ALL students that allows them the opportunity to achieve three primary goals:

  • Acceptance to a four-year university
  • Post-Secondary education articulation
  • Certification in a high wage, high demand technical area.

In order to achieve these goals, every student is required to take a college preparatory curriculum of 24 credits, predetermined by the state of Florida, and an 8 credit course of study in a technical field selected by the student. McFatter requires the same 24 credits for all students. The 8 technical credits are studied in the junior and senior years. Qualified students are dual-enrolled for post-secondary credit in the technical courses.

McFatter Technical High School, conveniently located on the South Florida Education Center (SFEC) campus, is 10 minutes from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. The high school offers students the opportunity to take Advanced Placement® course work, as well as earn a technical certification.

McFatter Technical College, Davie, Florida

McFatter Technical College (MTC) provides students with specialized training in a variety of professional and technical fields. Programs are designed to meet the needs of an evolving job marketplace by offering students state-of-the-art technical training provided by experienced and knowledgeable faculty.

McFatter Technical College, conveniently located on the South Florida Education Center (SFEC) campus, is just 10 minutes from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. The college offers students more than 35 different technical/career training programs.

The MTC campus provides students with educational opportunities to pursue careers in fields such as automotive, business, communication arts, culinary arts, drafting, education, fire science/EMT, healthcare, information technology, and more.

Nova Southeastern University Main Campus, Davie, Florida

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is an accredited university offering students an array of educational opportunities from associate’s, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees to educational specialist, doctoral, and professional degrees.


NSU Education Programs

NSU’s main campus is located in the Town of Davie, 10 minutes from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, on the South Florida Education Center (SFEC) campus. Nova Southeastern University is home to the renowned H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, the Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences, the Shepard Broad Law Center, as well as the Center for Psychological Studies and the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

On the west side of the  main campus you'll discover NSU's Health Professions Division, which is home to the university's colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, Dental Medicine, Optometry, Pharmacy, Heath Care Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Nursing.

Also located within the South Florida Education Center is NSU’s University School, a junior kindergarten–grade 12 college preparatory school, and the Jim & Jan Moran Family Center Village, which houses the Mailman Segal Center for Human Development.


Miami Dolphin Fans

The university is also home to the Miami Dolphins training facility—which includes a training facility practice fields and a two-acre, inflatable dome, also known as "The Bubble," that is utilized as the team’s indoor training facility.

University of Florida’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Davie, Florida

The University of Florida’s, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) administers degree programs for the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS). The University of Florida Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center, located in Davie, offers students courses towards Bachelor of Science, Masters of Science and Doctoral (PhD) degrees in the subject areas of geomatics, agroecology, entomology, and plant science.

 

UF/CALS Statewide Education Programs

UF/IFAS Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center (FLREC) is located in the Town of Davie, 10 minutes from the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, on the South Florida Education Center (SFEC) campus.

The FLREC offers both undergraduate and graduate courses that can be applied towards BS, MS, and PhD degrees. Courses are offered in the following subject areas: Geomatics, Entomology, Environmental Horticulture (plant science), Plant Pathology, Soil and Water Science, Agribusiness, and Wildlife.

A distinctive combination of commercial, urban, and environmental concerns make the University of Florida Ft. Lauderdale Research and Education Center an ideal place for students. Unique problems associated with South Florida depend on research, education, and extension efforts focused within this geographic area. Given the enormous differences in environment, flora, and fauna endemic to Southeast Florida, these efforts cannot be adequately performed in other areas of the state.
