University of Florida’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Davie, Florida
The University of Florida’s, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) administers degree programs for the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS). The University of Florida Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center, located in Davie, offers students courses towards Bachelor of Science, Masters of Science and Doctoral (PhD) degrees in the subject areas of geomatics, agroecology, entomology, and plant science.
UF/CALS Statewide Education Programs
UF/IFAS Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center (FLREC) is located in the Town of Davie, 10 minutes from the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, on the South Florida Education Center (SFEC) campus.
The FLREC offers both undergraduate and graduate courses that can be applied towards BS, MS, and PhD degrees. Courses are offered in the following subject areas: Geomatics, Entomology, Environmental Horticulture (plant science), Plant Pathology, Soil and Water Science, Agribusiness, and Wildlife.
A distinctive combination of commercial, urban, and environmental concerns make the University of Florida Ft. Lauderdale Research and Education Center an ideal place for students. Unique problems associated with South Florida depend on research, education, and extension efforts focused within this geographic area. Given the enormous differences in environment, flora, and fauna endemic to Southeast Florida, these efforts cannot be adequately performed in other areas of the state.
